Alpharetta, GA is a city in North Fulton County located directly north of Atlanta on GA 400, approximately 14 miles north of Atlanta's business district. According to Wikipedia, the city's population was estimated at 43,424 in 2006.

Alpharetta began as a campground location selected for a nearby spring and was chartered in 1858, becoming the county seat of Milton County. Milton County merged with Fulton County in 1931, the height of the Great Depression. Despite its inauspicious history, Alpharetta has grown into a prosperous area to work and live, now boasting many high-tech companies including Hewlett-Packard, UPS Supply Chain Solutions, Radiant Systems, ADP, Lucent, Nortel and ChoicePoint, among others. Alpharetta also boasts the new Verizon Amphitheatre at Encore Park, along with high-end shops and restaurants.
