Marietta, GA is the county seat for Cobb County and is northwest of Atlanta along I-75. According to Wikipedia, the city's population was estimated at 61,261 in 2005. Marietta was originally founded in 1834 around a town square and soon became the home base for the Western and Atlantic Railroad. All but two buildings were burned by Sherman's army during the Civil War.

Marietta's town square is approximately 15 miles nortwest of Atlanta and has more recently become a center of cultural activity with Theatre on the Square, year-round events in the park and lovely shops and restaurants buzzing with activity. There's also the new Cobb Energy Centre for the Performing Arts, which hosts the Atlanta Opera and many other events.
