Have you seen The Silos at Crabapple near the corner of Highway 140 and 372 in Alpharetta GA? There are three silos just off Highway 372. They are have been there seemingly forever. They appear to be built from cinder blocks with faded red metal domed roofs. Every time I drive by, I wonder about them…who built them, what was stored in them, when they were last used. Know the area was once farm land so I suspect some type of grain was stored maybe as feed for livestock. Today it is a peaceful respite with benches for relaxing.
Maybe next time I drive by, I’ll stop and see if there are any plaques with information. I am sure it would be fascinating. Next time you are in the area drive by and see this interesting site. I do not know of any other silos in Metro Atlanta so these are a real treat and a great way to teach children about farming and agriculture.
One additional interesting point about The Silos is what town they are in…some would sayRoswell, some Alpharetta, some Milton…point being they are in the highly desirable area of North Fulton West of GA 400 and North of Hwy 92. Looking closely at the maps, they appear to be in Alpharetta.
