Milton residents can now sign up for Smart911 and register their information to be used by Milton’s emergency responders when you need them most. You can register and create and account at www.Smart911.com. After hearing of this service, I recently signed up and added my information. Plan to spend 15 – 20 minutes, and you may want members of your household nearby to help you answer health-related questions about them. You can even register your other children (pets), which could be helpful in case of fire.
In addition to the obvious benefits of having paramedics knowing health and prescription specifics for each member of your household, by registering your cell phones and connecting them to your address, doing so may help the emergency dispatcher locate the caller’s location more easily. With most folks using their cell phones (70% estimated for 911 calls) when calling 911, such in-depth knowledge could be critical should you be in distress.
