One of the special places to visit in Atlanta is Georgia National Cemetery. The cemetery located off Georgia 20 between Canton and Cartersville is an outstanding place to visit and pay respect to our veterans. The cemetery has been open since 2006. It sits atop a mountain where the Etowah River widens to form Lake Allatoona. Atlanta business man and philanthropist Scott Hudgens donated the land to the Veterans Administration. The setting looks North with extraordinary views and vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is a special place for our veterans and spouses to have as their final resting place.
Each year at Christmas, Wreaths Across America, places wreaths on each grave. National Wreaths Across America Day is in mid December each year. We proudly support this organization. Learn more about Wreaths Across America.
