Progress continues on the new Bethany Bend high school slated for Milton GA. I’m amazed at the amount of work done in a short period of time though the school does not open until fall 2012. I did learn today that there is a stadium to be constructed onsite- though it’s not been in renderings I’ve seen, I’m not surprised. One of the onsite construction workers told me it will be located behind the water towers you can see off Hwy 9 next to Publix.{[}]{[}]Here are some photos of the progress:{[}]{[}][slideshow]{[}]{[}]I think another high school is needed in the area to maintain classroom size and the quality of education our children receive. However, I am concerned about the impact on traffic caused by the new high school, particularly since the location is just across Cogburn Road from Kings Ridge Christian School. Milton Mayor Joe Lockwood in his recent “state of Milton 2011” writing alluded to a possible new road near the new high school. Additionally, Milton and Alpharetta are jointly applying for funds to study traffic and aesthetics along Highway 9 so it will be interesting to see if some steps are taken to address possible traffic issues.{[}]{[}]Another interesting development will be how the school district boundaries are drawn for the new High School, so we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
