Selling Your Home in a Spring Market

This week-end I was showing homes to a couple from Michigan. They were in town for their grandson’s first birthday andWoodstock Spring to start searching for communities they might like to live in. Their home will be going on the market around May 1. When asking why wait to May 1, their response was “that is spring market”.  Spring market in Woodstock and surrounding areas is certainly different.

While we were out looking at homes, I noticed the first daffodils of the year blooming, then some crabapple trees and flowering quince opening. Those are the first signs of springs here in Atlanta for nature and homebuyers. Hopefully over the next few weeks we will continue to see more homebuyers looking  and purchasing homes.

If you are going to be putting your home on the market this spring, it’s time to contact a REALTOR and get your home ready to sell. There are many things a home seller needs to do to put their home on the market so write that list and start sprucing up right now. One thing we recommend to all sellers is to focus on first impressions. Does the space around your front door make someone feel welcome?

  •  Has the porch and steps been washed down and swept, cobwebs  removed, door knob polished, etc.?
  •  Is there a new door mat to wipe feet from spring showers?
  •  Do you have a nice wreath on the door to draw someone in?
  •  Are there live plants such as a planter of pansies or a blooming azalea at the entrance?

An inviting entrance is an important part of selling your home so take an afternoon to do a little cleaning and adding a few touches and then homebuyers walk into your home smiling!
