Soleil Laurel Canyon is an award-winning Active Adult community about 45 miles Northwest of downtown Atlanta. The community is in Canton, GA, which is the county seat and a fast-growing area of Metro Atlanta. Canton is near the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, resulting in a rolling terrain and spectacular scenic mountain views. Laurel Canyon is a master-planned neighborhood with Soleil being the Active Adult section. Soleil is located behind the security gate and is located in the back of the neighborhood.

Resort-Style Amenities

Soleil Laurel Canyon is what we describe as a Resort-Style Active Adult community. This means you can expect amenities and activities that you might in an upscale vacation environment. Plus, there is a full-time Lifestyle Director. The result is numerous daily activities, and seasonal events (think outdoor concerts and cookouts). And around 100 organized clubs offering almost anything imaginable. If you have a hobby or interest not covered, the staff will help you start a group.

There are only five resort-style Active Adult communities North of Atlanta, with all in the suburbs. They are Cresswind at Lake Lanier, Del Webb Chateau Elan, Village at Deaton Creek, and coming-soon Cresswind at Twin Lakes.

Soleil Laurel Canyon has 987 homesites. Floorplans range from 1400 square feet to 2800 square feet. Homes are one level with optional bonus space with bath up, unfinished basement, or finished basement. Homes are well appointed and open floor plans. In addition, an Amphitheatre overlooking the lake, providing a spectular setting for concerts. Soleil Laurel Canyon has about 100 organized clubs, which means there are fun and varied interests such as gardening, photography, travel and more.

HOA Monthly Fees

HOA fees at Soleil Laurel Canyon cover the gated entrance with a 24-hour guard and home security monitoring. Also included is exterior landscaping maintenance, basic cable, and weekly garbage pickup. And of course, use of the clubhouse and amenities. The current developer paid cash for the development after the original developer filed bankruptcy during the recession.

Golf at Fairways of Canton

An 18-hole golf course intertwines thru much of Soleil Laurel Canyon. The course, the Fairways of Canton and its clubhouse, are owned by the City of Canton. Fairways of Canton is leased to a golf course management company on a 15-year lease. Therefore, Soleil homeowners are not financially responsible for the course. However, residents have the benefits of the golf course such as golf course lots and open spaces.   Homeowners can play at a discounted daily fee. Plus, since residents can drive golf carts throughout the community, those with carts can save even more.

About Canton

Canton GA is a thriving suburb about 45 minutes from downtown Atlanta. The city is in Cherokee County, which offers great tax breaks for seniors starting at 62. Just outside Soleil’s entrance is a shopping center with Publix, a large national grocery chain and several other retail stores. Less than 5 miles away are just about any of the national retailers and numerous restaurants and movies.

Downtown Canton includes museums and restaurants for entertainment. As a result, the warm weather months offer shopping at the local Farmers Markets. Plus, there are numerous events on the city park or along the Etowah River Park to enjoy. Finally, Soleil Laurel Canyon is about 10 miles from the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta in Woodstock that opened 2013. There are several regional shopping malls less than an hour away.

A new state of the art hospital, Northside-Cherokee Hospital, opened in 2017 and features a Women’s Center and Cancer Center. The hospital is about 5 miles from Soleil Laurel Canyon, providing top-notch medical care with about 700 doctors should the need arise.
